Apalachee comeback falls short

MT. AIRY - Apalachee mounted a furious rally from a big deficit against Habersham Central on Monday, but the Wildcats' game-tying 3-point attempt from half court missed at the buzzer and Apalachee lost 59-56.

At one point, Habersham led 47-27 before the Wildcats went on a 27-9 run and cut the deficit to 56-54 with 19 seconds remaining. But they were unable to quite overcome Habersham's big lead.

DeVaughn Kilgore scored 28 points and added six assists to lead Apalachee (6-14, 1-5 Region 8-AAAA North), which will visit No. 9 Madison County tonight at 7:30.
