Winder-Barrow hands Red Raiders first sub-region loss

WINDER -- Winder-Barrow 's D.J. Butler turned in a double-double performance of 24 points and 10 rebounds Friday as the Bulldoggs defeated visiting Madison County 46-39, handing the Red Raiders their first Region 8-AAAA North loss of the season.

Madison County (18-4, 6-1) got 16 points and eight rebounds from Patrick McCrary, and Sam Maxwell added nine points and 10 rebounds.

The Red Raiders, who defeated Winder-Barrow 67-60 on Jan. 12, saw their seven-game winning streak halted Friday. Madison County came into the game ranked ninth in Class AAAA while Winder-Barrow was ranked 10th.

The Bulldoggs (15-4, 4-1) will play at 7:30 p.m. today at Apalachee . Madison County hosts Apalachee at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
